How to Get a Chocolate Milk Stain Out of a Carpet?

Both adults and children love chocolate milk; unfortunately, this delicious drink can cause quite a mess if spilled onto a carpet, for one it will create an ugly brown stain, and secondly, the odor that it will create over time is quite unpleasant.

We all know how proud we can be of our homes; we buy things for them that we know we’ll love, so when you have a beautifully clean carpet and end up spilling something onto it that will stain can be extremely frustrating. Luckily, there are ways that you can resolve this, explains Fargo carpet cleaners (, even if that stain is brown milk chocolate.

What Steps Should I Take to Get Chocolate Milk Out of My Carpet?

Thankfully chocolate milk is quite an easy stain to get out, especially in comparison to oil-based stains according to So if this is your situation, you’re lucky it isn’t something worse.

Method One:

Step One

Let’s be real; the smartest thing to do in such a situation is to act fast. The longer you leave it, the harder it’s going to be to sort out. So ideally, please don’t leave it to dry, that might be your worst mistake. As soon as it happens, you should find something to soak the chocolate milk up, such as a tea towel or a paper towel, anything that can soak the chocolate milk up as much as possible. Once one towel is full, move onto the next one, keep on doing this until you can no longer soak anymore up.

If the stain is bad, it might be worth placing a weight on top of the kitchen towel, and this will help to soak the stain up.

Step Two recommends that you want to cover the stain in table salt, the reason being for this is because the salt will absorb the wet patch and prevent the stain from spreading further which can happen. After all, carpet fibers are absorbent. You want the salt to be on the stain for 20 minutes, once done you can vacuum this up.

Step Three

Mix a tablespoon of washing liquid with 500ml (two cups) of warm water. Place a clean cloth into the bucket of water and soap, make sure to squeeze out as much water as possible. You then will want to dab the chocolate milk stain with the cloth. I would recommend that you start from the outside inwards.

Step Four

Once you have got rid of the stain, you then want to make sure there is no soap solution left on your carpet; you want to wet another clean cloth in water and make sure to rinse the soap solution out of the carpet. Then you want to pat the carpet with a dry clean cloth.

Step Five

If you find that the first time hasn’t done the job then I would recommend trying a couple of times, the stain will eventually come out.

Method Two:

If you find that the first method isn’t working for you, if you can still see the stain, then you might want to take note of the ammonia solution or white vinegar solution. recommend ammonia because it has the properties to break down stains.

Step Six

You want to mix 500ml of warm water (two cups) with a tablespoon of ammonia or white vinegar. Soak a sponge with the selected solution and scrub onto the milk chocolate stain until you are satisfied with the result. Once you have done this, you will want to dab the stained area with a towel (you will want to use an old towel) Lastly cover the area with baking soda and vacuum it off.

Carpet Cleaner

Sometimes the name says it all. It might be worth investing in a carpet cleaner; they’re designed to clean carpets.

Step One

Blot the stained area with cool water.

Step Two

Make the diluted carpet shampoo solution. It should say on the bottle what part water is needed; usually, it is one part carpet shampoo with four parts water, mix these and apply the solution to the stain, you want to scrub this into the carpet thoroughly, you can use something like a brush or an old towel.

Step Three

It would be best if you left the solution to fully dry, once it has dried vacuum the area, this should remove the stain. If the stain is still there, repeat the previous steps.

I still can’t get rid of the stain; what should I do?

It’s horrible when you have tried everything, but you find the stain has still not entirely disappeared then it might be time to consider calling a professional carpet cleaning company. They are professionals, they know how to get stains out, they have the supplies needed to do the job.
